Apex Pin 5-3 Loss on Cancun
|
The Indianapolis Apex beat the Cancun Toros, 5-3, at The Brickyard. Harry Callahan, who is on pace for 67 RBI this season, starred for Indianapolis. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Takeda Takahashi, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. James Noble closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
Callahan contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Indianapolis in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Callahan took a fastball from John Cowgill and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Apex to leap in front, 2-1.
Indianapolis manager commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
