Payne Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
Monday, May 4th , 2076
Brian Payne accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball when he hit for the cycle against the Vancouver Vandals in the 11-7 New York Voyagers win at The Thunderdome.
Afterward, Payne acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Voyagers win.
"Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Payne said.
On his historic day, he went 5-for-6 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books.
Brian Payne grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Andy Beans in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Lucas Greep in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this year, Payne is batting .415 with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
